Appointment Information
Whether it is your first visit or a follow-up, face-to-face or virtual, I want you to feel informed, comfortable, and confident about your appointment. Here is everything you need to know.
Preparing for your appointment:
Whether face to face or virtually, to help me carry out a thorough assessment, please wear clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated. For example: shorts if we are looking at your knee or ankle, a t-shirt if it’s your elbow or wrist troubling you, or a sports vest if your shoulder needs treating. A private changing space can be available if needed.
You are welcome to bring a friend, family member, or carer with you as a chaperone. I want you to feel at ease throughout your session.
If your appointment is in clinic, please try to arrive on time so we can make the most of your session.
Clinic Access
- The width of the clinic room door is suitable for most standard wheelchairs.
- Unfortunately, toilet facilities are not wheelchair accessible — I sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and I am actively working on solutions.
- There is a small step to get into the clinic room and, if needed, I can help you tackle this on your arrival.
If you have specific access needs, please feel free to contact me ahead of your visit so I can make arrangements where possible > contact me.
What to Expect
First Face-to-Face Appointment
Your initial session will include:
- A detailed discussion of your medical and social history
- A physical assessment tailored to your concerns
- Special tests or movement screenings as indicated
- A collaborative plan based on your goals and findings
The virtual initial assessment will have its obvious limitations but we can make it work.
Follow-Up Appointment or Mini Movement MOT
You had your initial assessment and your treatment plan. You went away and put the work in. There is no pressure to book a follow up, especially if things are working well for you. However, if you think you would benefit from an objective review of your progress, a tweak of your treatment plan or just a troubleshooting session do get in touch. These sessions are focused, practical, and designed to keep you moving forward.
Home Visit
If you have booked a home visit, I will bring everything needed for your assessment and treatment. These sessions are ideal for clients with reduced mobility or for those who prefer to receive care in a familiar setting. This can be at home, in a care facility, or even at your gym or workplace. I will tailor the session to your environment and needs.
For the virtual (video link) sessions, please ensure that you are
- Using a good quality camera, microphone and speakers.
- Using a stable internet connection.
- Setting up your position at an appropriate distance from the camera to allow good view of the affected area and of the movements required during the assessment.
- Using the link provided to log on 10 minutes before the start of the session.
- Unlikely to be disturbed for the duration of the session.
Waiting Area:
Your Local Physio is based in one of Swaffham’s beautiful conservation areas, which brings a touch of heritage to our surroundings—and occasionally a few planning delays. I am currently working on making the waiting area more accessible and comfortable for all visitors, though progress may take a little longer than hoped.
Thank you kindly for your patience while these improvements are underway. Your comfort is very important to me, and I am doing my best to make each visit as pleasant as possible.
If you have any questions about access, parking, or directions, don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m happy to help make your visit as easy and welcoming as possible.
